Home Sweet Home

I can’t believe that I haven’t blog in over a month! And what a month it has been! Left for Cape Town on 25th September, and had a great time, I even have the tan to prove it! The wedding was a great success and it was nice to be under the same roof as all my siblings, even if it was only for a night. I also got my visa and basically can back as soon as possible. Its the first time Karl and I have been separated since we got married, and it was more difficult that we both expected.

Arrived in Dublin on Friday morning, and Natasha was visiting, so we did a bit of Dublin. Needless to say, shortly after a big lunch, we were exhausted and headed back up to the Glens.

On Saturday, we took Natasha to the Giants Causeway and Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge up the coast and then we headed into Belfast for dinner with the rest of the family.

Sunday it rained non-stop, and there was serious flooding. Karl’s parents house has been flooded before, and when we opened the front door, the water was threatening to run into the house. So Karl and my FIL were running around outside in the rain, digging up the drain in the fields to prevent the house from flooding, luckily it worked!

Karl and I are renting his aunts place up the road from his parents. Natasha went with me to buy some crockery and cutlery and those kind of things on Monday morning. Its frustrating starting all over again, but I have to admit that it is exciting! I dropped Tash off at the airport at around 11:30 am on Monday, and I have literally not stopped working since then! I have been cleaning cupboards, washing floors, oven and the fridge, scrubbing toilets, washing walls and carpets and windows and everything. I am EXHAUSTED!!! My feet, hamstrings!? , back and arms hurt all the time. Luckily I bought gloves to save my hands from all the chemicals I’ve used. Will post pics after all the hard work and decorating has been completed. Here are some before pics though. Still not sure how I feel about the pink bathroom!!! We are also waiting for our suite of furniture!

OUR FIREPLACE!! So excited :)

But I must admit, its worth it! It will be so nice to have our own space. Now that I’m busy cleaning and moving our stuff into our little housie, it really feels like I have left South Africa... I’m too busy to think about it yet, but it will hit me sooner or later. We’ll probably only move into the house over the weekend or next week, want things to be perfect before we move in. Its going to be weird being in Northern Ireland and not staying with his parents! The holiday is over!!!
